It is profound how different a place Crater Lake National Park is on a day to day basis. Actually, it is a different place moment by moment.

The lake is like a living thing, reflecting the sky…the weather…the surroundings. It transforms with almost every glance and every passing minute. Always fresh…always new…always breathtaking.

When our class returned to the national park on May 15 as a follow-up to our visit this past October, we were all blown away with how much everything had changed. Snowshoeing was a new adventure for most of the students, but they took to it quickly and nimbly. It made trekking through the woods far more possible.

We are so fortunate to have such a stunning place within driving distance of our classroom door. We are so blessed to have been able to take advantage of the grants that provided the buses and the rangers and the opportunity to connect with the beauty of the natural world.
