imageIt’s a slow process, getting ready for a new school year.

A matter of moving things around…trying out new ideas…pausing and considering and tweaking the details. Every time the end of August rolls around, I hatch big plans and formulate impressive aspirations.

Then…I…just…wrestle with those plans and aspirations, doubting whether they can be pulled off or, even, if they are so big or impressive to begin with.

At the heart of that whole process, however, is excitement over a new chance to meet students and explore the stuff of learning. In just one week, about 32 new fifth graders will walk through the door, sit at these desks, and begin an odyssey of collaboration, communication, integration, and innovation.

They will create and explore and become more that they started out being.

And so will I.
